Abstract This document is an interrogation on the stated subject of "Italy's Declaration of War on Greece and the Italian war Objectives" and in general terms describes Mussolini's grandiose vision of establishing a New Roman Empire that would begin in eastern Algeria and include not only the area between "Lake Chad to the Somaliland coast south of Ethiopia," but the "land mass from Egypt to the Persian Gulf and the peninsula of the Balkans" as well (p.2). The witness also notes the deterioration of relations between Hitler and Mussolini as the war continued. The Contents page of this volume identifies the witness as von Rintelen.
