Abstract In this affidavit, Edmund Tilley attests that Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, former President of the Reichsbank and former Minister of Economics, told him that he, Schacht, had formed the impression (from conversations occurring between 1933 and 1937) that Hitler believed he needed to present the German people with a military victory in order to solidify his hold on power.
