John had worked as a chemist in the Marshall brothers' calico printworks - information taken from "The Town of Stockport Items Collected for the Daughters of Columbia County Historical Society"); Receipts for burial expenses, Sept 23 1848, Nov 22, 1851; Thomas Marshall (nephew to Joseph) formerly of Stockport but at that time living in Almondbury, York, England relinquishes claim in payment of one dollar to him, Jan. 14, 1849; Katherine Gough to J. S. Gould - release Feb. 27, 1849 (June 1, 1853, Van Alen & Co. received $100, 10% of the claim allowed to Catherine Gough); Series of receipts for money received from the estate of J.
