Abstract:: Papers include correspondence, legal
documents, and related papers dealing with the law practice of James Richards
Robinson (1885-1953); letters from constituents and special interest groups,
copies of bills and hearings, and miscellaneous items pertaining to his service
as a Republican member of the New York State Assembly, 1923-1936; scattered
letters and pamphlets relating to his early Pesbyterian pastorate at Weston,
Schuyler County. A stock ledger, subscribers' list, and advertising cuts of the
Danby Telephone Co., ca.1912-1926, and broadsides, trade cards, pamphlets, and
photographs from Ithaca, New York and elsewhere. Also papers, 1868-1881, of Mr.
Robinson's father, James, Sr., principal of Southold Academy, Suffolk County,
which include letters, a roll book, a student petition, school announcements
and bills, manuscript orations and essays; personal and household accounts,
1868-1880; a scrapbook and estate settlement papers of Douglass Boardman, a
distant relative of James Robinson; and blueprints (1922-1926) of the Masonic
Temple in Ithaca.
