Abstract:: Included are a letterbook, a scrapbook, and a
few loose papers. Most of the letters are to business associates and are
primarily concerned with Shaw's unsuccessful efforts to raise funds in England
to build an electric railroad in Canada and with the founding of the Canadian
Niagara Power Company, of which Shaw was president. The scrapbook consists of
newspaper clippings and assorted memorabilia concerning Shaw's service as U.S.
consul in Toronto.
