Collection Scope and Content Note
Included are a letterbook, a scrapbook, and a few loose papers. Most
of the letters are to business associates and are primarily concerned with
Shaw's unsuccessful efforts to raise funds in England to build an electric
railroad in Canada and with the founding of the Canadian Niagara Power Company,
of which Shaw was president. The scrapbook consists of newspaper clippings and
assorted memorabilia concerning Shaw's service as U.S. consul in Toronto.
