Collection Scope and Content Note

Departmental files include correspondence with officials at the N.Y.S. College of Agriculture and U.S. Department of Agriculture, agronomists at universities and experiment stations, county agents, farmers, seed growers, and others concerning departmental administration, plant breeding work done by farmers in cooperation with the department, seed certification and exhibit, extension work, advice to growers, and other matters concerning seed research and testing; reports and data relating to department and other research; and correspondence and reports concerning agricultural assistance work undertaken by the department in the Philippines and consideration of similar work in Thailand and Taiwan. Included is the incoming and outgoing correspondence of Liberty Hyde Bailey, Frank P. Bussell, Rollins A. Emerson, Carl E. Ladd, Robert D. Lewis, Harry H. Love, Albert R. Mann, Clyde H. Myers, William I. Myers, and Roy G. Wiggans.
